Ryukokusan Hongwan-ji Temple (World cultural heritage)

- The Hongwanji developed from a modest temple built at the site of Shinran Shonin's mausoleum. After his death, his cremated remains were interred at Otani in the eastern hills of Kyoto and marked by a simple stone obelisk.
- The common name is called "Nishi-Honganji" although the name as "Ryukokusan-Hongan-ji" and a religious corporation is "Hongan-ji" formally.
- If it becomes late in November, the tree of the large ginkgo tree in age-of-a-tree 400 in front of a "Miei-do" shines with golden color, and is being crowded with many visitors and tourists.
