Nara Park
This is a park which has immense land of 660 hectares including the eastern side of Nara City, Kofuku-ji Temple, Todai-ji Temple, Kasuga Grand Shrine, National Museum, Wakakusa-yama Hill and Mt.Kasuga-yama virgin forest.
Todai-ji Temple
Todai-ji Temple was built in the Nara period(710 - 794 AD) at the behest of Emperor Shomu(r.724 - 749).The temple was offcially positioned as one of many state-established provincial temples.
Kasuga-taisha Shrine
Kasuga Taisha Shrine was founded to protect the Heijo-kyo Capital and is the head shrine for about 3,000 Kasuga shrines all over Japan.
Kasuga Taisha is famous also for a wisteria trellis.
Hannya-ji Temple
The Hanniya temple is located at the point which had gone up the ascent hill called the Todaiji Hall of the Great Buddha, the north direction in Shosoin, and Nara hill.
Yakusi-ji Temple
Yakushi-ji is a temple which carries out the whereabouts to Nishinokyo-cho, Nara-city, Nara-pref. and is the head temple of the Hosso Sect of Buddhism in Kofuku-ji.
Toshodai-ji Temple
Toshodai-ji is the temple which Ganjin in 5jo-cho, Nara-shi built, and is the head temple of the Ritsu sect.
Yata-dera Temple
Though officially called Kongosenji Temple, it is more familiarly known as Yata-no-ojizosan.
Yatadera Temple is also known as the temple of hydrangeas.
Koriyama-jo Castle
The Yamato Koriyama-jo castle was built by the Junkei Tsutsui which was a local military leader in 1580.
Hase-dera Temple
The main hall of Hasedera Temple extends southwards on a raised stage and is one of Nara Prefecture’s biggest halls.
Hasedera Temple is famous for its peony garden and has 7,000 plants from 150 species of peony planted in the grounds.
Horyu-ji Temple
Horyuji Temple is widely known as the oldest wooden structure in the world which tells the figure of the Asuka period at present. It was specified as the first world cultural heritage in Japan in 1993.
Hoki-ji/Horin-ji Temple
Hokki-ji is the temple of Shotokushu in Okamoto, Ikaruga-cho, Ikoma-gun, Nara-ken. It is near Horyuji Temple and Horin-ji.
If autumn comes, the fallow field around "Hokki-ji" will change to a "cosmos field".
Taima-dera Temple
Taimadera Temple is a temple that represents the western part of Yamato (the ancient name for Nara).It is known for being the only temple in Japan with both east and west three-storied pagodas remaining from the Tempyo Era (710-).
Sekko-ji Temple
Sekkoji Temple was founded in 7th or 8th century by Ennogyoja, a magico-religious practitioner who trained himself at Mt. Katsuragi. The “Miroku Sekibutsu” of this temple is the oldest stone image of Buddha in Japan.
